About Storehouse

The Storehouse (a work of Southend Vineyard Church) has been running for over 20 years. It is staffed by 5 part-time staff and 15 volunteers. It was founded by Southend Vineyard Church who realised that the community was struggling to provide vital support to local families and their children in terms of impacting loneliness, isolation, homelessness and poverty. Since the cost-of-living crisis, the need has been even greater.
The group now is open most weekdays for part of the day and reaches out to 350-500 people a week, including children. Activities at the Storehouse include, a foodbank, community café, and sessions for families, men and women only sessions where people can meet together in a warm safe space and receive hot food and/or food parcels and access practical support and have multi agency help form youth agencies, the Southend City Council housing department and mental health professionals. People with disabilities also attend weekly to help volunteer and get involved in painting and craft sessions.
